Backing up to a Remote Computer

What does this mean?
TrueSafe allows you to back up your data to another computer running TrueSafe.
Imagine being able to save your data on another computer thousands of miles away, as
if it were right next to you. The other computer may be yours, or the computer of a friend
or relative. Since large disk drives are so affordable, more and more people are finding
they have more storage than they need. By sharing this excess storage, everyone
gains protection. And the best part is, you don’t need a bunch of fancy and
expensive equipment.

What is the advantage of backing up to a remote computer?
This capability provides you with disaster level protection. That is, protection from
events such as theft, fire, or flood. By getting your data offsite, you give yourself
a much higher degree of protection.

How does one actually backup to a Remote Computer?
For example, if you want to allow a friend to backup data to your computer, all you do is add your friend's User Name to your list of hosted users and specify how much disk space to provide. Then, whenever your computer is online, your friend can backup data. TrueSafe takes care of finding your computer on the internet, even if you have a dynamic IP address.

Is This Secure?
Yes. Communication between computers uses the same secure encryption used when
you bank online. All data that is transferred from one computer to another is encrypted
using 256-Bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). You of course have complete control
on which users you’ll allow to backup onto your machine.

Can I use TrueSafe to set up an online backup service?
Yes. TrueSafe is easy to set up and includes web-based administration so you can provision and manage users. You can have your service running in a matter of minutes.
